Sandor Javorkai - (Ungheria)
Was born 1976 in Györ, Hungary into a musical family. He received his
first violon lessons at the age of three years, at the age of five years he
gave his first public recital.
He completed his studies at the János Richter conservatory Györ
and continued his academic educa-tion at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music
Budapest with Prof. Géza Kapas and later at the University of Music
and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Michael Frischenschlager where he completed
his studies with highest honours in June 2004. Master of Arts.

2002 Jávorkai received a scholarship from the Herbert-von-Karajan
Centre, Vienna.
1990-1994 he won the E. Vajda Strings competition, Hungary
1992 first prize at the J. Koncz National Violin Competition, Hungary
1993 first prize and special prize at the International Carl Flesch Violin
competition, Hungary
1999 special prize at the International Pablo de Sarasate Violin Competition,
Spain
2000 first prize and special prize at the International Chambermusic Competition
in Thessaloniki, Greece
2003 Kodály Prize (Duo with Ádám Jávorkai).
He regularly appears with the National Philharmonic Orchestra Budapest at
home and abroad. As soloist he performed for Hungarian radio and television.
Conductors under whom he has performed as soloist are Marcello Viotti and
Mariss Jansons at the Attergau Festival (Salzburg) under the patronage of
the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jávorkai appeared with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra on the occasion
of a new year’s concert 2003/2004 which was acclaimed very much by the
audience and the critics.
Sándor Jávorkai also devotes considerable attention to chamber
music, collaborating primarily with his brother, the violoncellist Ádám
Jávorkai. In 2002 the duo appeared with great success at the Jeunesse
Festival of Vienna and was recognised as “one of the most outstanding
duos that I actually know”, Matthias Naske (former secretary general
of Jeunesse Austria). Two years ago their first CD recording with compositions
by Brahms, Saint-Saens and Tschaikowsky was released (conductor: Ádám
Medveczky; Györ Philharmonic Orchestra).
The young violonist has already performed in Hungary, Austria, Great Britain,
Turkey, Japan, Norway, Egypt, Germany, Spain, Italy, Israel, Greece, Tunisia,
Malta and the Netherlands. |
