Luca Lombardo - (Italia)
Violinist Luca Lombardo was born 20-11-76 in Erice, Sicily into a family
of musicians. Mr. Lombardo began his musical studies at a very young age with
Riccardo Brengola followed by Master Classes with Massimo Quarta.
He completed his studies at the Conservatorium of Music in Milan receiving
a High Diploma under the guidance of Maestro Gigino Maestri. He was later
selected from his class as soloist in Mozart’s Concert in G Major with
The Philharmonic Orchestra from the Conservatorium of Milan.
Mr. Lombardo was selected from the post-graduates to attend the Academy
of Vienna as concert soloist under the guidance of Maestro Michael Frischenschlager.
He was awarded a scholarship to the University of Vienna for having the highest
marks in all subjects before graduating in 2004.
He has since been involved in numerous orchestral performances as Concertmaster
with prestigious international orchestras and an increase of solo work which
has seen him in collaboration with the finest students of the Academy of Vienna.
Mr. Lombardo is part of the prestigious W.T.V. ensemble (Wien Tourin Virtuosi),
with which he has played numerous concerts in all Chamber Music formations
from duos to ensembles.
Mr. Lombardo has participated in competitions in many countries abroad
such as U.S.A., Korea, Austria and Italy. He received a Third Place in the
Wiener Klassic at the International Semmering Competition (Austria), recentely
he participate in the Viotti competition (Italy).
He has had many artistic collaborations, including those with Maestro Andrea
Bocelli, as well as prestigious orchestral directors such as Nello Santi,
Gyorgy Gyorivanyi Rath and Gianluigi Gelmetti.
He was the protagonist in the Quartet d’Archi in a documentary produced
on the Austrian television station “ORFI” which was transmitted
on Eurovision. He was subsequently invited to the highly prestigious “Juilliard
Quartet Seminar” in New York held by The Juilliard School.
As a soloist, Mr. Lombardo has played in various recitals in many Italian
cities such as Turin, Milan, Rome and Palermo. He played three recitals with
the Sicilian Symphonic Orchestra with Maestro Ilija Marinkovic, interpreting
Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins.
In 2004 and 2005, Mr. Lombardo attended the Great Mountain Music Festival
in Korea. There he performed concerts and was awarded a scholarship to participate
in Master Classes of famous maestros including Joel Sminoff and Hyo Kang,
teachers of the Juilliard School of New York.
He annually attends the Mozarteum of Salsburg, where since the age of eight
years old, he has been accepted into the classes of the teachers Ruggiero
Ricci, Jean Fournie, Igor Ozim and Michael Frischenschlager.
In January 2006.Luca Lombardo played as a soloist under the baton of Alberto
Veronesi and the Sinfonica Siciliana to very positive reviews.
He is now playing a 1680 Francesco Ruggeri violin which the Fondazione
MAESTRO Cremona donated for the motivation of “Young Italian Talent”,
and a bow made by Giovanni Lucchi
of Cremona, donated by the master-maker
himself.
