Ivan Palovic - (Slovacchia)
Ivan Palovic (viola) was born in 1981 into a musical family. He has studied
at the Conservatory in Bratislava in the violin class of professor Jozef Kopelman,
Bohdan Warchal jn. and František Török, at the Academy of
Music and Drama in Bratislava studying viola with professor Jozef Hošek
and at the Hochschule Musik und Theater in Zurich in the viola class of professor
Nicolas Corti.
In 2004/2005 he held the Swiss Government Scholarship.
Ivan has participated in masterclasses in Slovakia (International Summer
Music Masterclasses in Pieštany), Austria (Sommerakademie Prag-Wien-Budapest)
studying with Mintscho Mintschev and Siegfried Führlinger as well as
in a number of national and international festivals giving solo concerts at
the Anglo-Czechoslovak Trust in London, Orfeus Festival, Arthur Fleischmann
Festival and Festival of Young Slovak Concert Artists in Bratislava.
He has also won awards as a soloist e.g. the Bohuslav Martinu-Prize at
the Internationale Sommerakademie Prag-Wien- Budapest in Austria as well as
the 1st Prize, the “Prize for the Best Performance of a Work by Beethoven” and
the “Prize for the Best Performance of Contemporary Czech Composer” at
the International Viola Competition “Beethovenuv Hradec“ in Czech
Republic.
Ivan has performed as soloist and chamber music player in Austria, Italy,
Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.
As a member of Arensky Quartet he has played at the Tonhalle Zurich. Well-known
Slovak Moyzes Quartet invited him in 2005 to play Brahms Sextet B flat major
op 18 in the Slovak Philharmonic Chamber Music Series.
As a member of Ghega Quartet he has recorded for Austrian Radio and Television
ORF and participated in a TV document.
In 2003 and 2005 he performed Walton’s Viola Concerto, respectively
Stamitz’s Viola Concerto with State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice
(Slovakia) Ivan Palovic was in 2003/2004 a member of Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra.
