Botagoz Kaliyeva - (Kazakistan)
Botagoz Kalieva took her first cello lesson when she was six years old, at
K. Baiseitova Music School in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Eight years later she had
her first performance as a soloist accompanied by chamber orchestra.
After graduating from the Almaty Music Conservatory, Ms. Kaliyeva was accepted
at the Moscow Music Conservatory, where she got her Master’s degree.
While still in music school, Botagoz won several international cello competitions.
In 2004, Botagoz continued her studies at the University of Music and Fine
Arts in Vienna, Austria.
Botagoz has participated in renowned ensembles such as the “Silk Road,” with
Yo-Yo Ma, and the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra conducted by James Levine,
Valery Gergiev, and Kristov Von Dohnany. Botagoz also participated in the
recording of music for ballet, commissioned by the Covent Garden.
She performed as a soloist and as a member of different chamber groups
in Austria, Kazakhstan, Italy, Switzerland and Japan. Her repertoire, besides
classical music, includes jazz, contemporary and folk Kazakh music.
Currently, Botagoz Kaliyeva works as a substitute at the Vienna Symphony
Orchestra. |
